Since our company was founded in 2002, Women@Work has held monthly networking meetings for mid to senior level women in Connecticut, where our business was first established. As our reputation grew beyond the greater NYC area, women in every region of the country expressed an interest in bringing Women@Work to their local areas.
In 2008 we have grown from one active chapter in Connecticut to 15 chapters in 11 states. We are committed to cultivating chapters in virtually every major city in the U.S.—and our plan is to expand to an additional 20 key cities by first quarter 2009.
Most networking groups include both current and returning professionals who have a variety of professional skills and accomplishments. As chapter memberships grow, it is likely that smaller groups will break off for women who share specific career-related goals. Similarly, the number of groups in any one area will grow as members customize groups to specific needs and interests. You have the option of joining a “general interest” group now—or you can volunteer to chair or help to form a group that is focused on a specific industry (e.g., finance) or type of job seeker (e.g., returning professionals).
